DUBAI - Al-Futtaim Panatech, the sole distributors of Panasonic products in the UAE, will soon introduce five new LED models, which will bring the Panasonic Viera range to 27 models from 24 to 152 inches in the country, its top official said. “Plasma and LED-based flat-panel televisions are both growing with LED the fastest growing segment of the television market,” Shaun Sullivan, General Manager of Al-Futtaim Panatech, told Khaleej Times in an interview.
He said traditional TVs based on CRT technology has all but disappeared from the market, and there remains just a small demand in some emerging markets.
“We will likely see that all TV’s regardless of size will feature full high definition, 3D option and some form of interactive/Internet contents,” he added. Excerpts from the interview:
As sole distributors for the Panasonic range in the UAE, Al-Futtaim Panatech is happy to inform you that flat-panel television sale for the first half of 2011 has performed strongly with the market growing at around 25 per cent over same period last year. Panasonic Viera television growth over this period has exceeded the market growth leading to an increase in market share for Viera in the UAE.
Plasma and LED-based flat-panel televisions are both growing with LED the fastest growing segment of the television market. As the market moves from older LCD television to the new LED based backlights, the sales of the older backlight technologies LCD products have slowed. Panasonic is introducing five new LED models in coming months, which will bring the Panasonic Viera range to 27 models from 24 to 152 inches. In 2011 we also witnessed a significant growth in televisions with 3D technology, since Panasonic Viera 3D models represent not just amazing flicker and blur free 3D but they are also the best in picture quality for normal 2D viewing, they are proving very popular with discerning customers who also wish to enjoy 3D movies or gaming as well as normal 2D viewing.
When consumers are looking at purchasing a new television the most important thing they should consider and look for is picture quality and what their primary use of the TV will be.
